Not only does Iceland have some amazing scenery but it also has some pretty delicious food too. And some foods that we don't get to have as often, at least in New York. So whether you are there for a long weekend or full week, be sure to try plenty of seafood (anything from fermented shark to fish stew), lamb, pastries from the shops in Reykjavík and Skye yogurt!Read More
Where do we begin. Iceland is such an incredible country with so much to see and do that it's hard to come up with just 10 things to suggest. These things can be done during a long weekend trip which will give you a good idea of what the country has to offer.Read More
You've probably seen each of these a thousand times if you are starting to think about your trip to Iceland but even for a long weekend away these are all must see places...Read More
I would consider myself a novice photographer - self taught and trying to get better through my own experimentation. I've also not had very much experience with night photography but I learned that you don't have to be a professional, you just have to be prepared. For beginner photographers looking to capture the Northern Lights, you need to understanding which settings to use instead of worrying about experimenting on the spot. In preparing for our trip to Iceland, I knew that I wouldn't know all of the right manual settings that would work best but...Read More
In planning my own trips, I always find that looking at other people's photos of different places helps guide me choose my next destination and then plan where to go and what to see there. Here are a few of my favorites from our long weekend in Iceland...Read More
For our last full day in Iceland we ventured out as far as we could for a day trip. We decided to book another tour because having not rented a car but wanting to see as much of the country as we could, we knew this was the way to go. From all of the research I had done, I knew I wanted to get to Jökulsárlón (the Glacier Lagoon) and Diamond Beach...Read More
Part 2 of our Iceland trip led us a bit outside of Reykjavík where most would consider more of a tourist loop. While it's perfect for a first time trip to Iceland, when I make it back someday, I would probably skip over most of our day's itinerary because there are so many other beautiful places and things to visit in Iceland that are further from the city.
We started the day touring the Golden Circle. This is a great beginner's tour...Read More
I'm so excited to finally start sharing posts on our amazing trip to Iceland. While we only went for a long weekend, we felt like the entire experience was incredible and it's by far one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. For us, it was a girls weekend for me and one other friend. We had travelled together before (to a much warmer place) but knew we were good traveling buddies and we would have a fun long weekend in store.
We tried our luck with WOW Air, a budget airline that has made it's name as a result of it's low fare flights to and from a few different US and European cities to Reykjavík. We flew from Newark on a 6:35 PM red eye flight that arrived at 4:40 AM. I've done my share of red eyes to Europe but this was like no other. 4:40 AM felt like 12:40 AM, just in time for bed at home and a new day in Iceland...Read More
2017 started and ended busy! Among other things, we got married, moved to our first home, finished a real estate rental project in the Poconos Mountains and traveled to six countries across three continents. We managed to "go" somewhere just about every month whether it was a long weekend driving distance from New York City or across the world. As I'm thinking about how to share more of our travel experience and stories, I thought...Read More
